I met a girl with HIV and she said the viruses undetectable. I do not have HIV was wondering what can be done to prevent spread of the virus. Can you catch the virus from oral sex and will a condom provide enough protection during intercourse
I'm wondering is there any way to have an intimate relationship with someone that has HIV and not catch the disease. if I have oral sex with her would that expose me to the virus? Would kissing her exposed me to the virus?
I would appreciate any response
I have been positive for 17 years. Was married for 12 of those years. My husband is still HIV negative. Kissing is fine if you dont have open sores in your mouth. We always used a condom but now with the medication U=U which means if you are undetectable you are also untransferrable. I have only been on meds for 2 years and we have enjoyed a healthy sex life. Check out U=U on the internet. If the person is not on meds make sure you know the viral load count and use precautions! All the best!

Either don't have sex or if using a condom make sure it is the right size and no oral sex, because sex is sex

Olive read the comments, I don't and wouldn't do oral but I'm not clear about what you mean about pill form protection 😕
yes even though she may be undetectable she still can pass the virus to you if you don't use protection. as far as protecting yourself there are are many different types of protections one that is for HIV - people is a drug regiment call Prep ask your Dr about this option .condoms are very good protection but don't use the ones made of lambs skin (too porous) . and don't use the one that has a petroleum based lubricant ( Hiv + since 1989)
Oral sex will not infect you if she is HIV undetectable, very unlikely sex without a condom could as well. But best to be on the safe side and use a condom. If you think you have been exposed to a HIV person or having sex with somebody you no has. You can take PrEP needs to be taken within 70 hours of exposure. I word on advice about oral sex, best not to brush your teeth before as this can cause small abrasions in your mouth. Use you finger to put the toothpaste on. Also never use mouth wash as this kills all the bacteria that can fight of infections. Rubicari should not comment unless he knows the facts you can not get HIV from kissing as salvia does not contain HIV also if the person is HIV undetectable impossible to pass on. Idiots like him should keep there moths shut when people are after facts not guesses or his opinion.
Actually you can have a normal sex life with an HIV infected person, you will need to check with a doctor or local county medical center. There are some pills (don't know the name) that both partners can take which will protect from being infected. It's my understanding that the pills are very expensive, but some county medical centers (Tarrant county Medical Center in Texas) can prescribe them to people free if you have bad or no insurance. Kissing an HIV infected person wouldn't infect you unless you both had open sores/bleeding gums.
You will not catch HIV by kissing... Im HIV positive myself. E.g Spent last 5 years with a guy that had no STDS and still hasn't got any..., we used condoms for 6 months, then didnt bother, Sex life was great. No different than any other person with oral and intercourse. He went for a check up once every 6 months. we was actually on a partnership scheme with hospital to prove it cant be passed on as long as the person with is taking there meds.
Doctor will advise always wear a condom and not to do oral. Good luck
