Anonymity
Ahhhh. Anonymity. It's freedom, and it feels good. When you join our site, you are doing so
anonymously. Let's take into account what makes our service anonymous, and what actions you need
to take to keep it that way.
The internet is a fairly dangerous place when you don't know exactly how the system you're on functions
. There are two main threats to your anonymity, the system, and the information you provide to the system.
Provided Information
The information you provide to matchstd.com is pretty general and limited. We get your location (not your address),
and we take a few bits of information regarding you. If you feel that any of the information can identify you
specifically, you shouldn't provide it, and we urge you not to register, but contact us. It's possible we
may be able to make the system more lenient to suit your needs. We've
designed the registration process to take as little information from you as
we have found necessary to provide you with good matches and the most
functionality.
The System
The system here at matchstd.com has been completely custom made for our uses. One thing you see on other pages
are profile pictures and information being shared with every member of the site. We take things more seriously. Only
those people who match the preferences you desire with your partner, and only those that carry the same std(s), will
be able to view any information about you whatsoever. Even then, that information is general enough not to identify you.
When a member has decided that they would like to contact you, they must send you a communications "proposal," which you
must accept before they are allowed to contact you through the internal messaging system. This helps A, prevent spam, and
B, prevent queries from individuals not really interested.
Security
In any dating site security is a big issue, and at matchstd.com it is especially important.
Because of our policies on anonymity, we do not have any way of tracking the people that you're meeting.
So here are some good tips to help keep you safe. More will come as we get suggestions from members. You can
e-mail those to suggestions@matchstd.com
-
Get to know someone well through the anonymous internal messaging system before you meet! If
at any time the individual makes you feel strange, or you get a bad feeling, just cut it off. No worries.
When you meet someone, make sure it's in a public place. Don't give out any personal information like
your address or your last name during the meeting. Take things slow. Bringing a friend along is generally a good
idea. Double-dating has it's advantages in this arena.
Tell someone close where you're going to be, what time you're going, and what time you're coming back. In addition,
you can e-mail us at security@matchstd.com, giving us as much information as you
feel comfortable with about who you're meeting and
where. We will keep such e-mails in our system for 30 days, just to keep some record of where you're going.
Don't use that as a substitute to telling someone else close to you though.
Have fun!
This site is ad-supported. If you see an advertisement,
and click on it, that advertiser can determine that you are coming from
matchstd.com, but they cannot "steal" any information such as your account
name... We encourage you to take part in offers that appeal to you, but do so only when you feel that you trust the
advertiser. On this matter,
we will be taking a close look at the intentions of the advertiser to ensure that they are not in the business
of harassing anybody. If you ever run into problems, please e-mail abuse@matchstd.com
immediately, and we will take a look at the issue ASAP.
As always, if you have any suggestion, please feel free to contact us!
