Hi, welcome to MatchSTD.com, and thanks for checking out why it came into being! We're working very hard to make sure you have a comfortable, anonymous way to find love, and are very glad you found us.
If you haven't heard of it yet, MatchSTD.com provides a free, anonymous matching service to individuals with STDs, including herpes, hepititis (B and C), HIV/AIDS, and HPV (genital warts). It is our intention to create the most complete, anonymous, and successful matching service for persons with STDs, helping them lead more satisfying lives. It will match a member to other members who both match defined preferences, and carry the same STD(s). This means that you will not be matched with an individual who has a STD that you don't.
Growing up, I had several friends who become infected by a variety of sexually transmitted diseases, and have realized just how hard it was for them to find love. One day, my heart nearly broke when a friend confided in me her story. She had been dating her boyfriend for quite some time, and had fallen deeply for him. It came to that point in the relationship where she had to tell him her secret. It ended horribly as he broke up with her in disgust. It was soon thereafter that I started thinking of a way to make her life easier... MatchSTD.com was born!
In making the site, there were a couple of factors that seemed very important to us. First of all, anonymity! (And please visit our Anonymity page for more information). Those with STDs should never be singled out (whether by inclusion or exclusion), and we realize that your information is private... We had to think of a way to keep it like that... The main feature of our site? We don't ask for any information that can be used to personally identify you! No e-mail, no credit card, no address, nothing. Your association with this site is no more than what YOU want it to be.
Second, it's a harsh truth that those not living with STDs have more options when it comes to love. There are few matching services for those with STDs, and those that do exist are expensive. Why should you have to pay for these mediocre services? You shouldn't. We decided that matchstd.com would be completely free. That's right, you don't pay a penny to us. In addition to making this easier for people to sign up, it also means we don't have to collect a name, address, credit card number, or any other identifying information!
Thirdly, you're safety is important to us. We have provided many Safety Tips that will help you make the most of matchstd.com. More will be added as we move along with this project. So stay tuned!
